Principle diagram of a tank

General Tank Description

The tank shell is made from sheet metal over 3 mm thick, which is stamped and preformed in the factory and bolted on-site. Curved angle bars are attached with pins linking the shell to the base plate (see principle diagram).

Stiffeners are positioned on tanks where there are varying levels of storage in order to protect the tank shell from warping when subjected to heavy winds.

Their location and cross-sections are determined according to the values attributed for wind speed in the various regions, based on wind and snow regulation NV 65/84.

Standard tanks are designed for normal atmospheric pressure and for non-seismic regions. Our engineering department will provide other calculations for areas at risk of earthquakes and cyclones.

Materials:
According to their use, the tanks may be made of different materials:
Stainless steel (304 - 304L -3 16L) (see photo Maisadour)
Marine quality aluminium (5083 - 5086)
Galvanised steel (NF EN 10147 quality S355MCZ350) (photo of conventional sprinkler tank)

Heat-lacquered, polyurethane, polyester or epoxy paints are available in most colours (tanks may be customised or be made so as to integrate into their environment and extra anticorrosion protection may be added (5-year guarantee)).

Watertightness:
A geomembrane reinforced with a screen is used to ensure watertightness. The screen provides for resistance against traction, perforation and tearing.

The geomembrane is made in the factory according to the exact dimensions of the tank and provides for a perfect seal. Different types are used according to the liquid to be stored. For example, a food quality membrane is used for drinking water, tested and approved according to General Health Department standards.

Roofs:
Our tank roofs are designed to correspond with the various uses and are made of:
Stainless steel (demineralised water, gaseous atmosphere containing H2S...)
Aluminium (for saline atmospheres, the storage of drinking water)
A galvanised structure covered with cladding-type sheet metal (for fire tanks)

Our roofs may also be adapted to deal with a rise or fall in pressure within the tanks.

Equipment:
Our standard tanks are all delivered with an overflow, draining valve and a safety ladder made of aluminium and an inspection panel on the roof.

Various options made of stainless or galvanised steel are also offered: manhole, level control, filling, underground or aerial link between tanks, insulation, cladding, various connections, etc..

Assembly:
Our assembly teams are available for intervention all over Europe each being equipped with a hydraulic unit with hoses, actuators, and the tools needed to effectively complete the job.

For international projects, Société Française de Réservoirs provides the customer with a supervisor as well as all the materials needed to carry out the job.
